In her second graphic novel,Desperate Pleasures, M.S. Harkness demonstrates a significant evolution in her storytelling. She weaves in and out of non-relationships, drug dealing, and sex work, all with the subtlety of a blunt ax! Harkness' constant search for security and fulfillment is always just beyond her reach.Desperate Pleasures is a young woman's fearless autobiographical account of complex relationships, set against a backdrop of trauma and abuse. Uncomfortably close-up and filled with dark humor,Desperate Pleasures is an unrelenting read and a testament to M.S. Harkness' growth as a creator.
